Hi, Lisa -- just discovered your new collection of collections! Wonderful -- as a life-long collector myself, I love how you are honoring the beauty of these items. As always, your artfulness inspires.
Hi there, I love the idea of photographing all your collections-- I'm participating in the 365 Project (photo a day, every day for a year) and like your spin on it. :)
This is so inspiring, I have odd little collections like this too and now I feel inspired to figure out ways to display them. I love the erasers. My Father had one of those 6 sided numbers on his desk all through my childhood. You couldn't use it to erase, it just smeared everything, but it was nice to just pick it up and turn it around in my hands. His version had a little green brush on it to sweep away the eraser crumbs. I can remember the feel of it and that smell that erasers have. Your collection brings his whole little basement office back to me with the big desk made out of boards over old army filing drawers and brick and board book shelves. There was an old, black plastic, rotary phone and a weird stapler, probably from the 40's and an army green, metal, 2 hole punch. I used to spend hours just dinking around at his desk. That's what all my little collections are about. 20 years from now when I see a certain kind of pine cone I'll remember the pile of them on my window sill and how I'd pick them up 1 and 2 at a time. I'll be transported back to this little house I live in and my long walks in this wonderful old neighborhood with the best dog I've ever had. Great blog idea.
I have a bunch of vintage coin rolls in a dresser drawer. Some of them were very well used and others had never been touched. That make me a collector?? Well. no. I'm very impressed that you have so many collections. I would never be able to take 365 pictures of different collections. I think I have about ten different collections.... if my collections of cameras and computers count.

ReplyDeleteOh wow, I love this one. I think one of the things I like most about this project is the excitement of what collection each day will bring!
