  4. postcards, especially RPPC (real picture postcards) are my favorites. I have a set from someone's vacation to paris in the late 50s, its my favorite.

    I hope that you have seen or read everything's illuminated, because it's one of my favorites and jonathan would love this blog.

  5. Reminds me of the postcard correspondence of my mother's family, starting in 1902. My grandmother was the French Governess to an aristocratic family in Amsterdam received cards from friends both at the house in the city (now the mayor's residence) and the country house, a small castle in 'sGraveland, her sister held the same pssition with another family which also traveled back and forth between both places. They each married one of two brothers.
